Parish Life
For Children
The church has been holding a Children’s Ministry, Kids’ Biz, for a number of years.
Each Sunday about 10 minutes into the 9.30 service, the children leave the church and come together in their brightly painted child friendly room, or outside, to carry out fun activities. Activities are usually based around the set gospel text for the day, and often involve creativity and running about.
Everyone returns to church for communion and shortly afterwards children present their play/game/craft to the congregation.
We would warmly welcome new children.
Social Activities
Men do Coffee
Originally formed in 2009 as the Men’s Fellowship Group the name was changed to reflect the more contemporary manner in which the men of the church now meet to enjoy fellowship. As is the custom now, we join for coffee and a chat at the Limestone Coast Pantry on the 1st Wednesday of the month and now call the group “Men do Coffee”.
This is a time to join together in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere to just talk about life in general or more important topics as the need presents. Guaranteed to always include laughter and the odd joke an hour or two quickly passes by before we re-join the world. Members often invite friends to join us and we see this an outreach into the community.
This group also fields the talented cooks and hospitality experts who join together once a year to offer Men Cook Sunday Lunch. This lunch is for parishioners and friends and is a fundraiser for the work of the church in Mount Gambier. On average around 60 people join together for the lunch following a winter service in the church hall.
Craft Group
Kathy McIntosh started this group after Anne James moved to Adelaide. “She was such a prolific crafter, I felt we needed a group to achieve anywhere near the amount of goods required for the Craft Stall at the Fair and the Easter and Christmas stalls.
We now have a small group of enthusiastic crafters who meet weekly where we exchange ideas and patterns and work individually or as a group to create saleable goods in a happy forum.”
Christian Meditation
Meets every Monday and Thursday at 5.15pm.
